3nd Annual Reel/Real Black: Denver Pan African Film & Arts Festival

"Infinite Possibilites"

Celebrating Black Cinema From Around The World
(screenings, workshops, lectures)
April 25-29, 2002

The purpose of the Pan African Arts Society (PAAS) is to cultivate, enhance and promote all art forms by people of African decent. The Society will also act as an umbrella council for other local and national organizations and individuals aiming to increase their professional marketing network. This includes women, men, and youth from the African continent, African Americans, people from all parts of the African Diaspora including, but not limited to; South American Australia, Europe, the Caribbean, Canada, and Asia.

The Pan African Arts Society works to enrich and expand the content and level of exposure to Black art and art forms for regional audiences; to provide a showcase for international cultural workers which would not otherwise be seen in Denver; to provide a platform for Colorado and national visual artists, dancers, poets, storytellers, and independent filmmakers; to promote dialogue among artists, cultural activists, critics, academics and the public; and to provide unique programming for special audiences.

The flagship event for the Pan African Arts Society is, Real/Reel Black: Denver Pan African Film Festival 2002: "Infinite Possibilities" scheduled for April 25-29, 2002 in connection with the Denver Film Society. By using the genre of film as a cultural event and community builder, Real/Reel Black: Denver Pan African Film Festival 2002 will present a wide variety of film-related events and programs providing a showcase for the best world cinema by and about Black people, and a forum for interaction among film artists and the public.
